Gainesville, the Gators and Bobby Bowden

November 30, 2009 by FSU Warwagon   Comments (0)

I cant really think of a game I hate going to more than the UF game in Hogtown. We always seem to get yelled at by some Gator with a mullet wearing Jorts...but this time was different. We stink and the Gator nation was actually polite to the FSU crowd this time. They almost feel as bad for us as we do...well, im sure it isnt that bad.

We had a really good time walking around to different "Seminole friendly" tailgates and had some good food. Talked with Gator Gary about the BubbaKeg grill and how it would make life easier to not tow a grill when he could hitch one up. I wrote the website down and asked for his support of the FSU WarWagon...he said No, but how about a shot. I laughed and watched him make a shot with the following.... homemade BBQ sauce, a raw (Gulf of Mexico) oyster, horseradish sauce and some vodka all mixed up with a plastic knife.... EFFING AWESOME!

Gary then started handing my group some quails and some cornedbeef...it was really, really good. It was odd how we were being treated but we accepted the Gators were just being nice for once.

I'll skip the game AKA Timmy's Moment and go right to my thoughts on Bobby Bowden.

The college football world will NEVER have a coach like BB, his way of explaining things, his voice, his dadgumits, his legacy and the way he changed football in Tallahassee. That being said...Thank You Bobby! We will miss you! I understand from of couple of sources that Bobby will be "retirin" at a presser in Tuesday and I wish him well.

What he did for FSU was amazing BUT what he is doing now is tarnishing all the good he had done. We have been on a slide for years now(9) and it is time for a change, to steal one of our Presidents slogans.

6-6 isnt living up to Bobby's own standards and nine years of decline is time enough to give one of the greatest coaches EVER a break. We got used to playing on New Years Day in the major bowls. Not in these small bowls we have visted the last few seasons. We are used to being at the top of Sportscenter but NOT because we were playing a top 10 team. We got spoiled and the man doing the spoiling is spoiling our future. Right now we are as good for TV as NC State. We are a season away from hosting Thursday night games in Tallahassee unless this change takes place.

The house that Bobby built was half empty for most of the games...Thanks USF for bringing 13k to help us sell out Doak for once in two seasons.

Anyway, I love what the man did for FSU but being average isnt what FSU is about anymore....it's time for Jimbo to take over and see if he can bring us back or to see if we turn into a (sorry, not ragging) a Nebraksa..searching for another Osborne .I can tell you one thing, our fanbase wont stick around as long as Clemson's or Nebraska's...a half empty stadium already proves that.

I support FSU! >>>------;;>

I gave away our Bubbakeg grill

We were honored to take place in this contest this year and with our "tailgating" season being officially over, I decided to give the grill to a very deserving friend.

I try and do as much work for our community as possible and most of the large events we did this year had one thing in common…Bluewater Cooking.

My friend Chuck Stubbs has been at almost as many charity events this year as I have. The cameras and the mics may not focus on what he and his great crew do, but they are there well before the attendees arrive and they are there well after the attendees have left.
Chuck is one of the people behind the scenes that make the events even better…the ones you may not know about but they are just as important to the event as anyone else. They just don’t have the spotlight shown on them as much as it’s deserved.

Chuck has provided our food at the Warwagon the last two seasons. The comments they get are simply amazing and so is the food. Now, when I say they have provided the food I mean this… THEY deliver the food to us, we don’t make a stop by them. They have never charged us a dime and refuse money each and every time it is offered.

Chuck fell in love with the Bubbakeg the first time he saw it and after the game last weekend I asked him to take it with him and enjoy it. No fanfare, no ceremony, just a couple of friends talking after a game. It was just something I felt at the moment. I know Chuck will get much better use out of it and will use the grill for many charity events. Chuck is a great guy and has a great family and I just wanted to let him know in a small way that he was appreciated. I would give that crew 10 Bubbakeg grills if I could.

Thank you Chuck and Bluewater Cooking for EVERYTHING you do for us and Tallahassee!

Maryland...TV, Radio and websites

I have been a pimping fool for the BubbaKeg grill this past two weeks. We have featured the grill on my TV show, Raycom showed our tailgate and the BubbaKeg grill twice during the game (so I heard) Radio is getting an earfull about the grill and the local websites are really coming through!

Maryland was a great tailgate. The Sweetwater was flowing the Bubbakegs were full and the grill had chicken and sausages low cooking all morning. I heard all the food was awesome...lol I got one bite of the sausage...I had it in the fridge all night smothered with Crystal Hot Sauce and some misc spices...we kept the temps around 275 and let those babies and the chickens cook for hours...again I heard it was awesome. Me being a good host, I made sure my guest ate first!

The game was a bit closer than we wanted BUT in the end our ugly uniforms, which reminded me of the Falcons, pulled out a W. We are going bowling and the streak is alive!

That was it for the season at Doak and we had a great time! We are going down to Gainesville this weekend to hope for the miracle. BEAT UF!!

Oh yeah, if you find out who has our video camera let us know...we got great footage on there!

With the last home game being on Halloween and it being a noon kickoff AND us having rented a party bus the night before...well, the WarWagon didnt make it out to tailgate. I had planned on waking up at 6am but that was tough when I got home at 4am. A few of the tailgaters showed up and I drove down in a regular truck, chugged a beer and went on the field for some sideline reporting. Got my interviews in and left the stadium at halftime to go pass out.

It was the lowest attended game I can remember at Doak. Offical ticket sales were 67,000 but there was maybe at the most 55,000 people in the stands for the homecoming game.

We had a party for the UNC game and grilled up some great goodness on the BubbaKeg grill. My friends Sammer and Ketan made some Indian chicken that was awesome. I did a couple of beer can chickens, burgers, dogs, steaks and some other goodies. We had great pics BUT the camera has gone missing...hopefully we will find it and get the pics loaded up.

we got a noon game for our final game at home...I say 45,000 will be there. Thanks FSU!!

Well FSU had a week away from Doak but with a similar result an L... they come back to face a GT squad and we give up almost 50 points at home. FSU is having the worst season since 1976 and the calls for change are ringing loud in the Seminole Nation.

The losing isnt helping tailgate and neither is the rain... It has rained at every single home game this year! It was near 90 muggy and nasty out on the field at tailgate this week. Like I said we didnt have as many people BUT we had just as much fun! The Bubba Kegs were out in full glory and so was the Sweetwater beer and the oysters from Birds Oyster Shack.

We have a couple of weeks off then come back two more times this year...next up is Halloween at Doak...hum...I wonder if I could make a BubbaKeg costume??? DIBS!!!

9/26 USF game @Doak

Well, once again FSU takes one step forward with a great win at BYU (Whom we now know is really no good) only to take three steps back after losing to an unranked-USF team with a back-up QB starting.

Tailgate was awesome (loading video now) thanks to all the stuff from Bubba Keg and the great beer from Sweetwater....we blew those kegs of 420 and Blue rather fast. We had a great time with our USF friends from the Tampa area. I wish we could of sent them and the other 12,000 USF fans a sad trip home...but thats FSU football... now finishing .500 is a question my mind.

ITS WAS HOT AS HELL at Doak...90 plus during the game and the brief rainshower we got near the end was very welcome...it was a white-out game for us, so the rain turned Doak into the worlds largest wet t-shirt contest..lol

It was a pleasure being interviewed for the Tallahassee Democrat about the Warwagon tailgate...that was a pleasant surprise. We have never won the Publix "tailgate of the game" we actually have NO clue how to enter that contest...but the Publix winners have never been featured in the local paper either...or been voted by the Seminole Boosters as the best tailgate at Doak for a season(2007).

We look forward to being featured on local TV at the GT tailgate in two weeks...Tallahassee (I hope) will get behind us and what we are doing at the tailgate. It's not just a great party but we are on a mission to help local charity through our great tailgates...

I hope the GT game isnt a noon game...waking up at 6am SUCKS!!!!

until then...we thank you for your support and keep telling people to vote Warwagon. If you dont vote Warwagon the terrorist win.

MORE PICS AND VIDEO COMING!!!

A week off and most of the Bubba Keg supplies come in....

FSU played a little game out in Provo last weekend AND FSU finally started looking like FSU....or BYU was waaaayyyy overrated...you decide which.  So with the Noles on the road the Sweetwater Warwagon got some recovery time from the downpoar after the Jacksonville State nightmare game.

Last week was like the holidays...everyday something was delivered to our door from BubbaKeg...it was awesome!

We have a dreaded NOON start with USF this week...the first time USF and FSU have played. Plenty of friends are coming up from Tampa and we will be ready and set-up when the lot opens at 7am UGH!!! I'll say it BUT NOON GAMES SUCK! They cause people to go home early Friday night so they dont spend any money out on the town. They have to wake up real early and are usually beat to hell after the games and dont go out either...so the boost will mainly be in the hotels. PLUS with a high of 91 it's not going to feel great on the first fall game of the year....but it could be worse...we could live in Gainesville.

We look forward to another great tailgate this weekend and will have some great video..that will probably make most of the teams want to come to FSU and party with us...im just sayin'

Here we go!

Allow me to introduce myself...I am Greg from Tallahassee, FL and I own an old M886 Military Ambulance that was nicknamed The WarWagon. Now it is known as the SweetWater WarWagon since SweetWater Brewery is a main sponsor of our awesome tailgates.

I bought the Ambulance just for tailgating and it has become an icon around Doak Campbell Stadium attracting the great Noles that want to party with us... food? Yeah, we do a bit and NOW have the greatest grill EVER will make it even better.

We have charity tailgates, local celebs and all and all a great time!

We look forward to competing in the first ever BCTS!
