Dome Sweet Home

November 28, 2009 by Falcons Fanbulance   Comments (0)

After a horrible schedule for Falcons fans, we now have 3 home games in a row.  We started out with 2 home games, then 4 weeks before another one.  Then the one home game, followed by 3 weeks away.  One more home game, then 3 more weeks before the next one.  So it has not been fan-friendly.  Now we will be home in the Dome 4 out of the next 5 weeks.

Bubba Hits the Big Apple

We spent last weekend in New York, and saw the Falcons lose a tough one in overtime to the Giants.

On the upside, we had a wonderful time tailgating with Ralph VonRosendahl and the Big Blue Cookin Crew.  They start about 5 am, and serve course after course of magnificent food.  Everything from French Toast to sausages, steaks and scallops.  An incredible spread.

The weather was perfect for football on Sunday and could not have been better for Saturday in NYC, seeing a Broadway show (Wicked) and dinner and sightseeing.

Let One Get Away

The Falcons let a very winnable ball game get away yesterday in Charlotte.  Missed kicks, bad throws, etc.  And on top of that, Michael Turner went down, too.

On the up side, we tailgated with our good friends, the PanthersFanz.  They are great folks and throw a great party.

We are in the midst of another long stretch between home games.  We head for New York Saturday morning.   Taking BubbaKeg to the Big Apple.

A Not-So-Pleasant Visit to JerryWorld

We spent the weekend

in Dallas and Sunday at the new Cowboys Stadium.  It was certainly impressive--to the point of overkill.  There is so much going on that it detracts from the game.

Oh Yeah, the game.  The Falcons took the opening kickoff and put together a text-book drive to a touchdown and all looked great.  Then they promptly feel apart, and lost 37-16.

Now it is on to New Orleans for a Monday night game.  Monday Night Football is great to watch on TV, but it is generally a pain-in-the-rear to attend.  But we have to do it--can't let the team down.

Another negative--given that New Orleans is known for partying and great food, it amazes me that the worst tailgating in the NFL, by far, is New Orleans.  There are a few great parties, but for the most part, due to the location of the SuperDome, there basically is no tailgating scene.

But there is football!

On the Road Again

October 21, 2009 by Falcons Fanbulance   Comments (0)

After 4 weeks, we finally had a home game this past weekend.  Now its off to Dallas, then New Orleans, before our next date at the Dome.  Then, to add insult to injury, another 3 week break.  Who built this schedule?

Its Great to Be Back Home Again

Finally, after four long weeks, we had a game at home last night.  It was a heart-stopper all the way to the finish, but the Falcons held on for a 21-14 win.

The weather was a bit cool for October in Atlanta, but we had a great time with our friends Cindi and Sandy from Chicago, and Adam, from London, England.

We also had a chance to try out the BubbaKeg grill.  It is great, and got a lot of attention from the parking lot crowd.  We look forward to many more great cookouts with it as we gain experience in its use.

Finally Coming Home

After 4 weeks, we finally have another home game this Sunday night.  Due to a quirk in the schedule, we have 1 home game in 7 weeks, and this is it.  And all the road trips are such that we can't do our own tailgate, although on some of the trips, we are being welcomed by the opposing team's fans.  We are really looking forward to trying the new BubbaKeg grill this Sunday night.  Might cook up some Bear meat on it.

Falcons go prospecting in San Francisco

It was a wonderful trip to San Francisco this weekend.  We felt like the Falcons would win, but that it might be close.  After all, the 49ers defense has been much improved this season.  But it was a blowout from start to finish.  Along the way to a 45-10 massacre, the Falcons rolled up a lot of records, including Roddy White's single game record for an Atlanta receiver and the team record for more points scored in a first half.

A Quiet Week for Falcons Fans

October 5, 2009 by Falcons Fanbulance   Comments (0)

It was very quiet this weekend, with the Falcons having their bye week unusually early this season.  And still 2 more weeks before the next home game.  It is a bizarrely bad schedule for fans this year.  The first 2 games at home was great.  But then only 1 home game in 7 weeks.  Plus, with the heavy rain the last couple of weeks, it seems like an eternity before we get to try out the great BubbaKeg grill.  But once we get this stretch over, the home games will come fast and furious during the 2nd half of the season.

Another Game in the Rain

After the monsoon conditions at last week's home game and the flooding throughout the Atlanta area, we headed to Boston for a game against the New England Patriots.  After the forecast for Sunday changed to heavy rain, we made a stop at the local discount store for rain gear.  It was a nasty day Sunday and the game wasn't much better.
