AZBarbeque Thanks BUBBA KEG and all of this year's Competitors

January 14, 2010 by AZBarbeque   Comments (0)

Well, we have finally recovered from our trip out to the BCS National Championship game.

I have to give a HUGE Thank You out to Bubba Keg and Gunnar for all that they did for us.

I have never won anything big before, so this was a very cool experience.

We did Auction off both the Bubba Keg and the BCS Tickets and with them and our Holiday Party Raffle, we are very proud to announce that we were able to raise right at $5000 that went toward starting up a College Fund for the two little girls in our BBQ community who lost their Mother, Brother & Uncle in 3 separate incidents this past year.  It was amazing to see the look on their face and their Grandparent's face when we did that.  It was certainly a great feeling.  Thank all of you who helped us so that we were able to do this.  You all are AMAZING..

The Trip out to Pasedena was a blast.  We had a chance to go out to the Stadium the day we got there and much to our surprise, there were lots of people already tailgating.  We walked around and met lots of them and took some pictures that are posted in the Photos section.  Then on game day, we went to Universal Studios and for the first time in my life, we went on the right day.  There were hardly anyone there, we had the park to ourselves for the most part.  Never had to wait in a line.  Great experience.  When the park closed, we went to a local bar in Universal City and watched the game.

What a great game it was too.  We were cheering for both teams and everyone thought we were crazy.

Thanks again Bubba Keg, you guys were AWESOME.    We certainly look forward to working with you again in the future and we certainly look forward to traveling around to a lot of the other tailgate team's that competed and join them for a tailgate party.  If any of you are ever out here in AZ, please contact us and consider yourselves invited to any and all of our events.

Now on to planning our HUGE Superbowl Party.  Wouldn't it be great to see our Beloved Arizona Cardinals in it?

Congrats to AZ BBQ!

2009: The year of the Bubba

December 1, 2009 by Clemson Tailgaters   Comments (1)

It really has been a hell of a year.  Tiger football went from horrible to fantastic to just-ok, the tailgating went from over-the-top to ridiculous, and all of our marriages survived another football season (barely).

Even though the BCTS has come to a close, the tailgating and grilling will continue.   Half of our crew will be tailgating incorrectly (ie, on asphalt) and keeping warm down in Tampa to watch the Tigers win the ACCCG, while the other half will be freezing their nuts off and grilling on the BKG in the woods for our annual "Bucks, Bullets, and Bourbon" trip.

The Tampa contingent will no doubt be dining on Chick~Fil~A nuggets, veggies with ranch dip, and cold beer.  Those of us going hunting, however, will be feasting like kings, grilling bacon wrapped venison, oysters, shrimp, a turkey, and, of course, the obligatory assorted sausages.  We'll also be trying a few desserts out on the BKG, like grilled cinnamon-cream cheese stuffed bananas.  And don't worry about the campers missing the ACCCG or SECCG, as we are bringing the generator, dish, and projection LCD out into the woods with us.  We just can't stop tailgating...

I would like to thank all of those that voted for the Clemson Tailgaters; our wives for being the enablers of our tailgating addiction; the Clemson Tigers for giving us a great football season; and last, but certainly not least,  Bubba Keg for allowing us to showcase our limitless talents and for supplying the best grill any of us have ever used!  See you in 276 days!!

Bubba Keg, AZBarbeque & 2 Little Girls

December 1, 2009 by AZBarbeque   Comments (0)

For those of you who don't know, AZBarbeque is the BBQ Club here in Arizona.  We originally started out as a Tailgate Club for ASU (Arizona State University) and grew into what we are today.  We run the BBQ Circuit out here in Arizona and have some incredibly fun and tasty events throughout the year.

We also help out a number of charities and causes each year.  For our Annual Holiday Party in December, we typically find a Family with ties to our BBQ community that is struggling and do up a Secret Santa for them.  It has always been a HUGE Success.

This year, we had a very sad & tragic year for a member of our BBQ Family here in Arizona.  Bernie, one of our great BBQ Judges here in Arizona and an incredible human being, lost his Grandson, Daughter & Son in 3 separate incidents.  It started out with them losing their Grandson, then his mother (Bernie's Daughter) died and when the Uncle (Bernie's Son) was back here for her funeral, he died of natual causes (at 40 years old).  Well, Bernie's Daughter had 2 additional children in addition to the son she lost.  She has 2 daughters aged 8 & 11.  This has been an incredibly rough year for them, all they know is grief & loss.

So, as a group, we decided that we would make them our BBQ Family for this holiday season.  We used the Bubba Keg contest as our springboard to kick it off as if we win, we plan on auctioning off the tickets and using 100% of the proceeds to help start up a college fun for these two little girls.

We also have a raffle of donated items from our Club Sponsors at our Holiday Party.  We plan on using the money raised from that Raffle to also go toward this College fund.  Our Bubba Keg will be included in that Raffle as well.  It is our goal to raise $10,000 so that we can help start up a $5000 college fund for each girl.

We are excited and moved that we will be able to help put a smile on their faces and to help out our good Friend Bernie, His wife Millie and these two little girls.

We will post pictures of the Holiday party so you all can share in the spirit of the season.

Thanks to everyone who helped us out and voted for us and thanks to Bubba Keg for giving us this opportunity.  Thanks to all the other Bubba Keg Competitors, we had a great time competing with you and seeing all the great tailgates & pictures and we sincerely hope to meet all of you and tailgate with you in the near future.

Here's to you and your family Bernie...

It was a fun year...

What a great few months tailgating and cheering on our ASU Sun Devils.  We had high hopes for them this year, but it wasn't meant to be.  Finishing the season at 4-8.  Many of their loses should have been wins, Georgia, USC, UofA just to name a few.  Our Defense was incredible this year, but without an offense to put some points on the board, the results are tragic.

It was fun competing in the Bubba Keg Contest this year, it gave us even more reasons to promote our awesome tailgate parties and help out all the charities that benefit from us being out there.

We got some great pictures, ate some great food off the Bubba Keg and enjoyed all the cold beverages mixed in those awesome Bubba Keg mugs all season.

Thanks Bubba Keg for helping to make our 2009 ASU Football Tailgating season a Huge Success.

Can't wait for opening day 2010 already.

Gainesville, the Gators and Bobby Bowden

November 30, 2009 by FSU Warwagon   Comments (0)

I cant really think of a game I hate going to more than the UF game in Hogtown. We always seem to get yelled at by some Gator with a mullet wearing Jorts...but this time was different. We stink and the Gator nation was actually polite to the FSU crowd this time. They almost feel as bad for us as we do...well, im sure it isnt that bad.

We had a really good time walking around to different "Seminole friendly" tailgates and had some good food. Talked with Gator Gary about the BubbaKeg grill and how it would make life easier to not tow a grill when he could hitch one up. I wrote the website down and asked for his support of the FSU WarWagon...he said No, but how about a shot. I laughed and watched him make a shot with the following.... homemade BBQ sauce, a raw (Gulf of Mexico) oyster, horseradish sauce and some vodka all mixed up with a plastic knife.... EFFING AWESOME!

Gary then started handing my group some quails and some cornedbeef...it was really, really good. It was odd how we were being treated but we accepted the Gators were just being nice for once.

I'll skip the game AKA Timmy's Moment and go right to my thoughts on Bobby Bowden.

The college football world will NEVER have a coach like BB, his way of explaining things, his voice, his dadgumits, his legacy and the way he changed football in Tallahassee. That being said...Thank You Bobby! We will miss you! I understand from of couple of sources that Bobby will be "retirin" at a presser in Tuesday and I wish him well.

What he did for FSU was amazing BUT what he is doing now is tarnishing all the good he had done. We have been on a slide for years now(9) and it is time for a change, to steal one of our Presidents slogans.

6-6 isnt living up to Bobby's own standards and nine years of decline is time enough to give one of the greatest coaches EVER a break. We got used to playing on New Years Day in the major bowls. Not in these small bowls we have visted the last few seasons. We are used to being at the top of Sportscenter but NOT because we were playing a top 10 team. We got spoiled and the man doing the spoiling is spoiling our future. Right now we are as good for TV as NC State. We are a season away from hosting Thursday night games in Tallahassee unless this change takes place.

The house that Bobby built was half empty for most of the games...Thanks USF for bringing 13k to help us sell out Doak for once in two seasons.

Anyway, I love what the man did for FSU but being average isnt what FSU is about anymore....it's time for Jimbo to take over and see if he can bring us back or to see if we turn into a (sorry, not ragging) a Nebraksa..searching for another Osborne .I can tell you one thing, our fanbase wont stick around as long as Clemson's or Nebraska's...a half empty stadium already proves that.

I support FSU! >>>------;;>

Dome Sweet Home

November 28, 2009 by Falcons Fanbulance   Comments (0)

After a horrible schedule for Falcons fans, we now have 3 home games in a row.  We started out with 2 home games, then 4 weeks before another one.  Then the one home game, followed by 3 weeks away.  One more home game, then 3 more weeks before the next one.  So it has not been fan-friendly.  Now we will be home in the Dome 4 out of the next 5 weeks.

Bubba Hits the Big Apple

We spent last weekend in New York, and saw the Falcons lose a tough one in overtime to the Giants.

On the upside, we had a wonderful time tailgating with Ralph VonRosendahl and the Big Blue Cookin Crew.  They start about 5 am, and serve course after course of magnificent food.  Everything from French Toast to sausages, steaks and scallops.  An incredible spread.

The weather was perfect for football on Sunday and could not have been better for Saturday in NYC, seeing a Broadway show (Wicked) and dinner and sightseeing.

I gave away our Bubbakeg grill

November 24, 2009 by FSU Warwagon   Comments (0)

We were honored to take place in this contest this year and with our "tailgating" season being officially over, I decided to give the grill to a very deserving friend.

I try and do as much work for our community as possible and most of the large events we did this year had one thing in common…Bluewater Cooking.

My friend Chuck Stubbs has been at almost as many charity events this year as I have. The cameras and the mics may not focus on what he and his great crew do, but they are there well before the attendees arrive and they are there well after the attendees have left.
Chuck is one of the people behind the scenes that make the events even better…the ones you may not know about but they are just as important to the event as anyone else. They just don’t have the spotlight shown on them as much as it’s deserved.

Chuck has provided our food at the Warwagon the last two seasons. The comments they get are simply amazing and so is the food. Now, when I say they have provided the food I mean this… THEY deliver the food to us, we don’t make a stop by them. They have never charged us a dime and refuse money each and every time it is offered.

Chuck fell in love with the Bubbakeg the first time he saw it and after the game last weekend I asked him to take it with him and enjoy it. No fanfare, no ceremony, just a couple of friends talking after a game. It was just something I felt at the moment. I know Chuck will get much better use out of it and will use the grill for many charity events. Chuck is a great guy and has a great family and I just wanted to let him know in a small way that he was appreciated. I would give that crew 10 Bubbakeg grills if I could.

Thank you Chuck and Bluewater Cooking for EVERYTHING you do for us and Tallahassee!

Maryland...TV, Radio and websites

November 23, 2009 by FSU Warwagon   Comments (0)

I have been a pimping fool for the BubbaKeg grill this past two weeks. We have featured the grill on my TV show, Raycom showed our tailgate and the BubbaKeg grill twice during the game (so I heard) Radio is getting an earfull about the grill and the local websites are really coming through!

Maryland was a great tailgate. The Sweetwater was flowing the Bubbakegs were full and the grill had chicken and sausages low cooking all morning. I heard all the food was awesome...lol I got one bite of the sausage...I had it in the fridge all night smothered with Crystal Hot Sauce and some misc spices...we kept the temps around 275 and let those babies and the chickens cook for hours...again I heard it was awesome. Me being a good host, I made sure my guest ate first!

The game was a bit closer than we wanted BUT in the end our ugly uniforms, which reminded me of the Falcons, pulled out a W. We are going bowling and the streak is alive!

That was it for the season at Doak and we had a great time! We are going down to Gainesville this weekend to hope for the miracle. BEAT UF!!

Oh yeah, if you find out who has our video camera let us know...we got great footage on there!
